Hints
For some tea is drunk sweet. Others like it with a dash of rum or a slice of lemon. In parts of Tibet it is infused with a lump of rancid Yak butter. How do you take your tea? To make a great cup of tea you need to start with great tea leaves.
Our hand-picked, specialty teas are selected because of their superior quality, unique blends and refreshing flavours. Whatever your taste is, Gloria Jean's Coffees have the tea for you!
Storage
Under ideal conditions teas last at least a year if tinned and up to two years in unopened tins. It is unwise to purchase more tea than you can use within six months or a year, because there is no practical way to extend this lifespan in storage.
Keep tea in a cool, dry place; don't refrigerate or freeze it because moisture condensation may result from temperature changes, which could cause the tea to become moldy. Always keep your teas tightly tinned and away from the spice rack, the onion bin, the kitchen stove, cooking odours and mothballs. If the container is not airtight, teas pick up other odors and flavoured teas lose their aroma.
Brewing
Heat your teapot and then add one teaspoon of your favourite Gloria Jean's tea. Bring the water to the boil and then pour onto the leaves. Steep the tea for different amounts of time depending on the type of tea you are using:
- Black Tea: 4-6 minutes
- Green Tea: Max 3 minutes
- Herbal Tea: 5-7 minutes
If you like your tea weak, add more water than the recipe calls for, instead of changing the length of time tea is steeped. When tea is steeped for an improper amount of time not all the properties of the tea leaf infuse into the cup, resulting in an inferior tasting tea.
